Pregnancy update; 29-30 weeks!

Hello! :)
Last week I actually filmed a pregnancy vlog on the day I said I would!! I know, I am a bit slack for actually not making it live until now, but I had a whole host of other videos that were meant to go up before this one... But I filmed it when I said I would!! WHAT! Craziness!!
Anyway, onto the pregnancy update...
In the way of pregnancy, I am feeling ok - I discuss all my symptoms and my appointment in the video below...
But to recap...

  • Heartburn & reflux. I am now on Zantac (an over the counter medicine), they don't help at all... This symptom is the devil, especially at night time when I am trying to sleep! I sleep on 3 pillows which is killing my back/neck & even that doesn't help much!
  • Nausea - YAY... But I can deal with this most of the time, I think putting up with it since the early stages I've learnt to breath through it & to control myself not to throw up. Sounds odd, but I've learnt to deal with it, like it is still horrible but I survive.
  • Sore ribs/back on my right side... This is seriously so painful!
  • Sore/restless legs at bedtime and cramps!
  • Weird dreams - like really weird.
  • I think I'm a bit deficient with vitamin B, I have dry/red skin on the corners of my mouth - YAY... How attractive.
  • My tummy hurts every now & then and also goes tight. I'm told & I've read this is fairly common.
  • I am a bit emotional lately, it can vary from pregnancy rage, to happiness & even a few teary moments... So I am pretty much a basket case at the moment.
  • I am also a bit of a crazy nester at the moment, I've been cleaning the house like a crazy women. The fridge, freezer, pantry, linen cupboards have all recently been tidied and cleaned. I just keep finding things to clean...
  • I am still not overly phased about the whole 'birthing experience', I am not scared. I know it has to happen & I'm educated on what happens & what can go wrong, so I feel like I am ok with it. Obviously it will hurt, but it will be so worth it.
  • My tolerance levels for stupid people are at an all time low. (HAHA)
  • Liquorice - weird... I have seriously eaten a whole bag in like 3-4 days!
  • Junk food; musk sticks, ice cream, chocolate cake, chocolate etc. Basically anything sweet!
  • Fruit salad. YUM!
  • I can't stand cooked veggies at the moment, I still eat them but I am not a fan. (I try to eat salad more often)
  • Still not a fan of big meals, but I do eat them I just don't enjoy them...
  • 50kgs as of last week, but now I am more at around 50.6kg... It varies, but still sitting in the 50kg area & I have been this weight for a few weeks now... (So far I have gained 10kgs since being pregnant)
Other pregnancy news;
  • Tomorrow (Wednesday 20th/Aug) Trent & I are headed to Brisbane to pick up her pram & capsule! These are pretty much our last big ticket 'necessary items'. We still would like to buy a swing or a bouncer/rocker but that isn't a huge 'need', but we will look at some while we are in Brisbane.
  • Baby shower invites have been sent out, I am so excited. I am also in love with my invites, they were a bit pricey & took awhile to track down but I think they are stunning!
  • Rexy's room is completely painted & all her furniture is put together/set up! (I will do a room post when it is complete!)
Now for some photos!
30 weeks & weight gain... I have put on 10kg since being pregnant.
30 weeks 1 day pregnant!
Trent and I at the OB appointment, I love that Trent comes to all my appointments with me, I am so grateful that we are able to work them all into his work schedule, he hasn't missed a single appointment yet! :)
I did my first load of laundry for Rexy the other day while the weather was beautiful, this is her cradle linen. Even the mattress protectors were so tiny & small!! I love it!
These are my baby shower invites, I added pink crystals to the wheels to make them a bit girly. But I love them, so sparkly & sweet!!
And now for the video, if you want to watch it on YouTube click HERE or watch below :)
Thank you so much for reading & watching, I still cannot believe how close her arrival is!
Talk to you all soon,

The joys of pregnancy...

Please note this post is meant to be a little funny & a bit of a vent, I am very grateful that God blessed me with the joy of being pregnant & everything I am experiencing is so worth it for the blessing at the end... This is just a bit of a funny way to help deal with some of the not so fun stuff that comes with being pregnant.
Ah the joys of being pregnant, not only does it come with a whole host of unglamorous symptoms that make you feel like the most unattractive person ever, but then there is the extra fun things that I am sure every single pregnant lady experiences, the joys of advice, comparisons, horrifying birth stories & opinions.
Yes, sometimes we ask for it, some of it is helpful. But a good sized serve of it is complete and utter nonsense.
And how do you deal with advice that is fairly questionable? Do you try to defend yourself and what your choices will be by backing up yourself with facts that you've read about or do you just say nothing?
Personally, I prefer to be honest & straight with someone, especially if this person is close to me - if it's someone I barely know I just smile & nod, in one ear & out the other!
But if it is someone I know well, I think if the person giving the advice is good enough to deal it out, they should expect you to have your own opinion you are going to voice & respect it... Once again, some advice is very helpful & makes sense, but there are always those times you sit there going "WTF".
Then there is the comparisons, yes just because your pregnancy was different to mine does not make mine bad, a lie or wrong. Nor is the way I select to give birth. And when the time comes and the way I raise my child is slightly different to yours, it's not your place to tell me otherwise. (Unless of course I am raising an absolute feral who looks homeless, because honestly some people do need a clue when it comes to child raising & if I am raising a future criminal please help me out.) As long as I intend to raise a happy, healthy, loved, polite, educated & clean child - you have no business commenting negatively.
Then there are the birth stories. Yes, I love to read them & I love having my friends tell me about their experiences, but no offence random person I barely know I don't need to know about your 3rd degree tear and labour that lasted for days...
Oh and the opinions, dude for the record if you have any opinion on my appearance or any pregnant ladies look other than "WOW - you look awesome" - keep it to yourself!!
No one wants to hear "you are looking fat", "wow your *insert body part* is really getting bigger" etc. That is just rude, I am aware of what is getting bigger and how I look, I don't need you to remind me!
Having a bunch of insensitive comments, unwanted advice, terrifying tales & bullshit comparisons being shoved down your throat on a regular basis along with feeling like absolute crap & being so emotional is tough, I am surprised most pregnant women don't suffer a mental break down, no wonder 'pregnancy rage' exists.
Seriously, feeling nauseous all day, being self conscious because clearly you don't look like you normally do, having reflux/heartburn so bad it makes it hard to sleep & also wakes you up at night, hardly getting any sleep, having back/rib pain so bad it honestly feels like your right side is being crushed, being more emotional than you have ever been before & having as much energy as an overweight house cat (mainly like my cat - Mishka) would make anyone feel like shit, but then having to deal with people who have no filter or no compassion - nice. It's just fucking splendid.
It is not hard to be nice, nor is it that hard to be respectful of others & their feelings.
Yes, we are all judgemental at times, we all judge everyone - I for one am bad with comparisons, mainly because I find I make mental notes of what sort of parent I don't want to be or what sort of child I will not be raising (sorry dirty looking kid with a shaved head & rat tail, wearing pyjama bottoms & no shoes being a nightmare in the grocery store - my child will not be like you. Nor will my daughter be like the little girl who was about 3 years old in the Ipswich Target the other day, who took her underpants off and pissed on the floor & then continued to run around pant-less stealing lollipops & chocolates while the poor staff had to clean up her mess, they found her Mother & told her - she was talking to someone & just shrugged it off. WTF. Actually my kids won't be like those kids - because I won't be like those Mothers)
See we all judge, I can admit that I do, but honestly I am not going to walk up to those parents and tell them how to parent their spawn - if they want to raise little ferals, that's their prerogative. (Cue Britney Spears dance break to this SONG)  I just will make sure that I do things my way to insure my kids won't be like those kids.
I realise sometimes people don't realise what they are doing & their intentions are in a good place, but some people just need a huge reality check.
There are nicer ways to put things or better yet times to bite your tongue. If someone asks for your advice, give it. If it wasn't asked for, keep it to yourself! Please especially keep it yourself if the advice is just plain weird.
We now live in a world where self education on things like pregnancy, child birth & parenting are so simple. Everything we want to know is right at our fingertips. There are countless books, apps, blogs & websites that hold so much information and even some of that is a little 'questionable'.
The way I've found to deal when it comes to advice, reading materials, being religious & pretty much anything that is sometimes hard to deal with in life, I treat it like this quote by Kristin Chenoweth's Grandma on reading the bible;
 "I read the bible like I eat fish: I take the meat, and it serves me well, but I don’t choke on the bone."
Meaning, I take what works for me & I am not going to stress on the stuff that doesn't help me or suit me.

I am not going to kill myself following everything word for word, what is right for me is what will be used and the rest will be put aside.

I realise everyone who is pregnant experiences the joys of people and their lack of filters, so this problem is nothing new... And not every person has the exact same pregnancy symptoms as me, some are so much worse (I am grateful that most of mine I can deal with easily) and some just breeze through pregnancy feeling brilliant (damn you).
I just thought this was a funny kind of topic that most pregnant ladies deal with, something relatable... I was also inspired to write this blog by Elle over at 'What's Up MOMS' on YouTube (my newest favourite channel, I watch every video!). Watch her hilarious video below! :)

So I want to know, what is the worse/most questionable/bizarre piece of pregnancy advice ever given to you? Or what has been said to you that makes you go "what the..."? Leave your comments below, tweet them to me (@Bella_K) or Facebook me your replies. I would love to read some of them, so I know I am not alone with this! :)

Babymoon & 2nd Anniversary getaway! {2013}

A few weeks ago on a Saturday Trent & I were sitting down watching one of those weekend travel shows before he headed to work (I believe it could've been Queensland Weekender) anyway, they mentioned Hervey Bay... Trent looks at me & goes "We should go there on Tuesday for 2 nights for our anniversary & babymoon" - like WHAT?! I really am not a spontaneous person, I like to plan things out & have my lists & organisation, we weren't planning on going away at all. So I said I would think about it while he was at work (he was on nightshift that night)... I googled a few other places that we like & others that we have never been too, I narrowed down our choices to two places; Byron Bay or Hervey Bay... I was later informed thanks to my Facebook friends that Splendour In The Grass was on that coming week & Byron would be a crazy town, so I settled on Hervey Bay & found somewhere nice with affordable accommodation.
We would've honestly loved to visit Montvillle again or anywhere in the hinterland, those sort of getaways are so relaxing but this year our budget wasn't allowing for such a luxurious trip. I am sure my obstetrician could afford to go there though with the fees we are paying him (all jokes aside, I am grateful to be able to afford such great healthcare from such a wonderful doctor)

Last year our anniversary trip was huge & very expensive, with what we paid on accommodation alone we could've easily spent some time overseas but we got to see a beautiful part of Australia & stay in one of Australia's most luxurious & stunning locations. That is a trip we both will never forget & every trip will always be compared to 'Mossman'! (If you want to read about that trip click HERE)
But this year, we needed to pick somewhere a lot easier for us to get to (road trips while pregnant aren't the most fun thing) & also somewhere affordable as being pregnant is a little bit pricey!
On Tuesday morning we were both awake super early and on the road by 6am (this was also the morning The Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to the little Prince!), we arrived at Hervey Bay & checked into our accommodation. We stayed at the Ramada Resort, we got a great midweek deal with breakfast included for 2 nights. It is a modern & very nice hotel!
That afternoon we watched a movie, walked on the beach, went fishing off the pier & had fish & chips for dinner. If you want good fish & chips in Hervey Bay make sure you go to Maddigan's Seafood, they are located down at the Torquay end and are delicious! We did try a fish & chip shop at the marina, thinking surely they would have great locally caught seafood but the lady in the store was super rude & apparently they didn't sell 'fresh seafood'...
Our accommodation.
Baby Rexy is covered by my t-rex shirt! LOL.
Walking on the beach!
Fishing off the pier.
I love a good sunset!
Delicious dinner!! We asked for 2 pieces of fish & 6 calamari & small serve of chips - they clearly serve very generously!!
The next day we enjoyed a hot breakfast at the hotel (not as good as The Silky Oaks Lodge breakfast in Mossman, but it was still nice). That day we went for a drive, did a bit more fishing, enjoyed an ice cream by the beach, did more fishing on the pier, had a nice sandwich for lunch, went back to the hotel to watch a movie and then went out to dinner.
Day 2 was a gorgeous sunny day!
Trent fishing.
I love the beach & I love him! :)
Rexy & me - 27 weeks 4 days pregnant!
Out to dinner!
One of the simple pleasures I really enjoyed while away was soaking in a bath! In our house we don't have a bath (one of the small things I had to give up when we bought this place) so I really made sure to take full use of the tub!
On Thursday we started the day off again with a hot breakfast, packed up our stuff and got on the road... We stopped at a road side fruit stall to buy some fresh pineapple which made our whole car smell delicious and continued onto Montville.
Delicious pineapple at home in the fruit bowl!
When we got to Montville we headed straight to my favourite Christmas store where I purchased some cute 'Christmasy items' and then we had a nice lunch over looking the amazing view...
At the Christmas shop, I really wanted that giant acorn for my squirrel collection!
Lunch at Montville!
Then it was back in the car to head home to our furbabies who we were missing a lot!
It was so nice to get away for a short break, we have been so busy lately preparing for Rexy's arrival... So this little babymoon/anniversary break was just what we needed!

Pregnancy Update 25-28 weeks {VLOG!}

Wow, time seriously has just gotten away from me this past few weeks, so sorry about such a delay with this update! Trying to keep track of everything whilst being pregnant is hard! Lately I feel there just isn't enough hours in the day!
Anyway, as I type this I am 29 weeks & 4 days pregnant, last week I filmed a pregnancy vlog which can be found HERE or at the bottom of this post...
I pretty much cover everything that has been happening lately in that vlog, so make sure you check it out... I discuss my absolutely humiliating & horrible experience with the 'glucose tolerance test' - argh, just typing that makes me feel uncomfortable. I have a huge fear of being sick in public & well, yeah I was sick... Like badly!
I will go through the symptoms I've had lately;
  • Morning sickness - oh YAY, my wonderfully horrid friend that I thought left me around 18-20 weeks is back... I am nauseous pretty much the entire day & I still throw up every few days...
  • Reflux/heartburn - seriously having this with nausea is torturous! I hate it! Bedtime is the worst for this, I often have to leap out of bed and sprint for the bathroom because the reflux is so bad it causes me to throw up!! I sleep on 3 pillows so I am elevated, but it still doesn't help!
  • Leg cramps/pain at night.
  • Restless legs at night.
  • Right side pain in my back/ribs - I assume this could be from my scoliosis.
  • Exhaustion/weakness.
  • Fairly emotional - I am normally not a cryer or a 'sad' sort of person, I'm more typically an angry person (haha) than an emotional person so this is a new experience haha. I just find I get a bit down when Trent is at work, like I just miss him a lot... (awww...)
Cravings lately are nothing super weird or crazy, I pretty much just love desserts/chocolates/sweets (junk food!!) and I am still loving summery sort of dinners/meals (chicken sandwiches, wraps, salads, fruit etc).

I think Rexy is doing well, I can actually see my tummy move because of her which is crazy & so surreal - I love it! (On my instagram account I posted a video of her moving -  @Bella_In_Bindyland) I do feel some pain when she moves into weird positions, my tummy sometimes feels heavy, tight or I feel like pressure in the lower bit of my stomach. Her latest trick is pushing up under one rib and stretching out to kick down...

We attended antenatal classes the other weekend, which I feel was fairly boring! The main reason we did them was so we could tour the labour ward, it was a 2 day weekend course from 8am-3pm/5pm each day... I feel I didn't learn anything I didn't already know, but I guess it was good to just refresh on a few things & be able to feel confident that what I knew about pregnancy, childbirth & babies was all correct!

I am feeling good in general, I am getting so extremely excited for October to come. I cannot wait to meet little Rexy. I am not scared of the thought of childbirth, I am actually fairly calm about it all (I think). I don't have a plan of how I want it to happen, I just want her to be delivered safely, so I am not phased as to how she gets out - just as long as it is safely :)
On the past weekend Trent & I went to Brisbane to buy a cot, change table, bath & a few other little things (I will do a haul video shortly - I do have 2 more hauls coming up first though!) So I am feeling very happy that we have most of her big stuff organised, next month we will head back to Brisbane to pick up the capsule & pram and then we are done! We also set up all the furniture on Saturday night, her room is almost finished being painted!
I am going to hold off showing any photos of our furniture/baby room until it's all completed!
Now for some photos of the latest 'Rexy news' & belly shots;
25 weeks pregnant!
26 weeks pregnant (this was day 1 of our antenatal class!)
A few photos from our antenatal class weekend. Of course I get given the creepy looking doll!!!!
Rexy at 26 weeks - she is now too big to fit into one scan photo!!
27 weeks and 4 days pregnant at Hervey Bay for our baby moon (blog post coming soon!!)
28 weeks & 4 days pregnant!
Trent building Rexy's cradle & cot! *Sneak peek of the cot - we changed our mind on furniture colour!!!*

I hope you enjoyed this pregnancy update, if you are also pregnant let me know how you are going below! Or if you have any tips on surviving some those symptoms please leave me a comment!

A marvellous midweek meal idea; 'Maggi Stir Fry Creations'...

This post is a 'Product Talk'. I am not being paid for my opinion & honestly I wouldn't write about a product that I didn't like! Please click HERE for more info! :)
Being pregnant is such a wonderful time but it also comes with it challenges, for me one of the biggest challenges is food.
Sure I love to eat (always have - thank God for my fast metabolism), but since being pregnant I either hate cooking (which I loved before I fell pregnant) or I just don't feel like 'dinner meals'. Basically eating & cooking has become a chore!
I seriously didn't cook anything for my first trimester, I couldn't stand the thought/look/smell of meat (which is very odd, because I am a huge red meat fan!) & I had zero energy. Thankfully I can now stand to cook a little bit. But the thought of most 'big meals' make me nauseous & I still have very little energy!
Honestly I would much prefer a chicken & coleslaw burger for dinner, but that isn't very healthy.
It is currently Winter here in Australia, normally this is the time of year when I am making big hearty warm meals, but I seriously cannot stomach them. So for dinners I have been cooking a lot lighter & simple meals.
One of our main midweek staple meals is stir fry. It is so easy to make & it is a meal I can pack loads of vegetables into & normally it doesn't make my heartburn act up to badly! And it is also a meal I make with enough leftovers so Trent can take a serve of it to work for a warm & nutritious lunch!
I have recently discovered a great new product; Maggi "Stir Fry Creations". This product makes this whole process so easy. Dinner is seriously ready in easily under 30 minutes & it's so tasty! (I make it while half watching Home & Away!)
It is a 2 part product, the first half is an infusion paste which coats the meat perfectly with real herbs & spices & the second half is the finishing sauce which you use before you serve the meal.
I found making a stir fry during the week is a great way to have a balanced meal & I can add in so many great vegetables and it really takes no time at all to prepare! (It is even easier when you buy pre-cut stir fry meat strips from Woolworths & you can buy really nice fresh prepared stir fry veggies in the produce department & even the freezer section of the supermarket!)
This product is available at Woolworths, Coles & Independent Supermarkets for $3.29.
There are 5 tasty options to choose from;
  • Honey, Soy & Garlic
  • Teriyaki & Sesame
  • Sweet Chilli, Ginger & Lemongrass
  • Chinese 5 spice & Soy (I made this one the other night, it was so yummy!)
  • Garlic & Ginger Chicken

For more info on Maggi "Stir Fry Creations" please click HERE!
